Review by hotel critic
Nestled within the vibrant chaos of Marrakech's Medina, my recent Christmas stay at Dar Akal was nothing short of enchanting. Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed by Said with refreshing Moroccan mint tea-a lovely touch that set the tone for our visit. The riad's layout, with its four cozy bedrooms arranged around a serene central courtyard, offered a peaceful retreat from the bustling streets just outside. What truly delighted me was the rooftop terrace, complete with a plunge pool and stunning views of the medina. It became our cherished spot for breakfast and evening relaxation, where we soaked in the sights and sounds of the city below. Our dining experience was equally memorable; each meal was a seasonal delight, reflecting the rich culinary heritage of Morocco. Said's knowledge of the local area added immeasurable value to our stay; he guided us to hidden gems within the souks and recommended fascinating historical sites like the Ben Youssef Medersa. Whether you're an avid historian like myself or simply someone who appreciates comfort and culture, Dar Akal is a fantastic choice. I can't recommend this riad enough-it felt like a home away from home, and I can't wait to return!
